Palworld Egg Hatching Guide — Times, Incubators, and Temperature
Palworld's egg hatching system scales by egg rarity — common eggs hatch in minutes, legendary eggs take much longer without the right incubator setup. Temperature and incubator quality both affect hatch speed, and the game's internal data gives us the relative scaling. Here's how it works.
Egg rarity and hatch speed
The game scales hatch time by egg rarity through a HatchingSpeedDivisionRate — a multiplier extracted from the game's settings (BP_PalGameSetting, PalEggRankInfoArray). Higher rarity eggs have a lower divisor, meaning they take longer relative to common eggs.
Rarity 1–3 (common/uncommon eggs): fastest hatch, suitable for most base-game Pals.
Rarity 4–5 (rare eggs): moderate hatch time — roughly 6× longer than common eggs relative to base speed.
Rarity 6–7 (epic eggs): longer hatch time — roughly 2× longer than common.
Rarity 99 (legendary): longest time — use the highest-tier incubator with optimal temperature.
The Egg Hatch Calculator shows how these multiply out with your world settings and incubator type.
In the world settings, PalEggDefaultHatchingTime (0.5 on Casual, 1.0 on Normal) multiplies all egg hatch times. Casual mode halves every time in this guide.
Incubator types and temperature
The Large Egg Incubator (unlocked at a higher tech tier) hatches eggs significantly faster than the Basic Egg Incubator. Always upgrade to Large as soon as your Tech level allows.
Temperature matters: each egg type has an 'ideal temperature' (shown in-game as Cold, Normal, or Hot). When the egg is at its ideal temperature, hatch speed increases. Mismatched temperature slows hatching.
The game's PalEggHatchingSpeedRateByTemperature data shows a range of 0.75× (worst temperature match) to 2.0× (best match). Keeping eggs at their ideal temperature can halve hatching time versus a mismatch.
Build heating/cooling stations near your incubators: Campfires and Electric Heaters warm eggs; Coolers and Refrigerators cool them. Check the egg description in-game for the ideal temperature symbol.
Fastest hatching setup
For the fastest possible hatch: (1) Large Egg Incubator, (2) temperature matched to the egg type, (3) Casual world settings or custom hatch-time multiplier set below 1.0, (4) check in regularly — eggs don't progress offline in most server configs.
If you're hatching many eggs of the same type, cluster incubators near a single temperature station so one Campfire or Cooler buffs all of them simultaneously.
Frequently asked questions
How long do eggs take to hatch in Palworld?
Hatch time depends on egg rarity, incubator type, temperature match, and world settings. Common eggs hatch in a few minutes with a Large Incubator and matched temperature on Normal difficulty. Legendary eggs can take 60–90 minutes in the same setup. Use the Egg Hatch Calculator for a specific estimate.
Does temperature affect egg hatching in Palworld?
Yes — matching an egg's ideal temperature (shown in-game) can reduce hatch time by up to 2×. A mismatched temperature applies a 0.75× penalty. Always build the appropriate heater or cooler near your incubators.
What's the fastest incubator in Palworld?
The Large Egg Incubator hatches eggs significantly faster than the Basic Egg Incubator. Unlock it through the Technology tree as soon as possible.
