Mutation & Breeding Cakes
Mutation is a Palworld 1.0 breeding mechanic: every Pal Egg has a low chance to become a mutated egg, and the Pal that hatches comes out with higher stats and a unique passive skill. You can't force a mutation, but the cake you feed the Breeding Farm changes the odds — and controls IV rolls, egg count and passive inheritance. Here's exactly what each cake does.
Breeding cakes compared

Raises the newborn Pal's IVs (Talent) by +1 to +5, making higher base stats more likely. | +1 to +5 | — | 1 | — |
Produces two Pal Eggs at once from a single breeding, doubling your output. | — | — | 2 | — |
Raises newborn IVs by +1 to +5 and adds +2% mutation chance — the cake for chasing mutated Pals. | +1 to +5 | +2% | 1 | — |
Lets the egg inherit up to 4 passive skills and all of the parents' active skills. | — | — | 1 | up to 4all active skills |
How it works
IVs (Talent) are hidden 0–100 rolls for HP, Attack and Defense that a Pal is born with. Higher IVs mean higher stats at every level. The Mushroom and Extravagant Vegetable cakes add +1 to +5 to the newborn's rolls — a small but reliable head start when you're breeding a keeper.
Mutation is checked per egg. On a mutation, the egg becomes a mutated egg and the Pal hatches with higher stats than the normal result and a unique passive skill. Only the Extravagant Vegetable Cake raises the chance (+2%).
For the child a given pair produces, and every parent pair that hatches a target Pal, use the Breeding Calculator. For passive-inheritance odds, see the Passive Calculator.
