Wanted Level

Commit a crime in front of the PIDF (the in-game police) or settlement guards and you get a Wanted status — armed guards hunt you until it clears. Here's what raises it and how to get rid of it.

What raises your Wanted level

Each crime committed while you're seen adds a bounty. The bigger the bounty, the harder the guards that come after you.

Murder of Law Enforcement5,000
Murder3,000
Obstructing Public Officials3,000

How to get rid of a Wanted level

  1. Break line of sight and leave the area. The Wanted status only persists while guards can find you. Run away from the settlement, put terrain or distance between you and the PIDF, and the alert winds down on its own after a short while.
  2. Fast-travel away. Warping to a distant fast-travel statue immediately drops the pursuing guards — they don't follow across the map.
  3. Wait it out / sleep. Once you're clear of guards the Wanted timer ticks down and expires; sleeping in a bed past the pursuit also resolves it.
  4. Lose or defeat the pursuers. If you can break contact (or beat the guards that spawned), no one is left to keep the Wanted status active.

The key idea: a Wanted level is tied to guards actively chasing you, not a permanent record. Get out of sight, get distance, and it clears — there's no fine to pay.
