Best Flying Mounts in Palworld — Ranked by Speed
Flying mounts are one of Palworld's most transformative upgrades — going from ground travel to the sky opens the entire map. Not all flying mounts are equal though: mount speed varies by more than 2× between the best and worst options, and some give you combat or base utility on top of raw speed.
Speed rankings (from game data)
Mount speed is an exact value in the game data. From fastest to most accessible:
Jetragon (#111, Dragon): 3,300 mount speed — more than double the next best option. The fastest mount in the game by a massive margin. Only accessible late game but completely transforms map traversal.
Selyne (#113): 1,600 — the second-fastest, added in the Feybreak update. A legitimate alternative to Jetragon at high levels.
Faleris (#105, Fire): 1,400 — the third-fastest and arguably the best value. Fire Kindling 3 + Transporting 3 means it pulls double duty as a base worker and a fast mount. Tower boss #4's Pal, catchable in the wild.
Ragnahawk (#74, Fire): 1,300 — strong mid-game flyer. Easier to catch than Faleris and available earlier.
Beakon (#73, Electric): 1,200 — similar speed to Ragnahawk. Electricity 3 means it generates power for your base while also serving as your mount. The best combined base-worker + flyer in the mid-game.
Helzephyr (#97, Dark) and Astegon (#98, Dark): 1,100 each — strong late-game options if you haven't caught Faleris or Selyne.
How to unlock flying mounts
Each flying mount requires a saddle crafted at a Pal Equipment Workbench. Saddles are unlocked through the Technology tree at specific levels. Check the Tech Tree page for the exact unlock level and materials for each saddle.
You can't ride a Pal until you have its specific saddle in your inventory and the Pal is in your party. Once crafted, assign the saddle to the Pal from your party menu.
Most late-game saddles (Faleris, Jetragon) require materials from the same element's dungeons or alpha bosses, so the unlock journey aligns with when you'd naturally catch those Pals.
Beyond speed: mount utility
Beakon at 1,200 speed is worth prioritising over raw speed rankings because of Electricity 3 — your base generators run faster while Beakon works there, and you can swap it to your mount slot for travel. This is the best ROI on any flying mount in mid-game.
Faleris (1,400) plays the same dual role with Kindling 3. If your base needs kindling and you need a fast flyer, Faleris is the pick over the slightly faster Selyne.
Jetragon, despite being the fastest, has only Gathering 3 as a work skill — so it's pure speed with minimal base utility.

How do you get a flying mount in Palworld?
Catch a mountable flying Pal (check its Paldeck entry for 'mountable: flying'), then craft its saddle from the Tech Tree and Pal Equipment Workbench. Keep the saddle in your inventory with the Pal in your party to ride it.
