Suzaku is a Fire-type Pal and a fast flying mount you can build a whole team around — its Wings of Flame skill gets faster for every other Fire Pal you carry. It's a striking desert catch that stays useful well into the endgame.
Where to find Suzaku
Suzaku soars over the Desiccated Desert in the northeast, most reliably in the southern and central desert near the Duneshelter fast-travel point. It's aggressive and will attack on sight, and it appears more often during daylight. In 1.0 wild Suzaku range from roughly Lv 45 up to Lv 80.
It's a Fire type, so it takes extra damage from Water attacks — bring Water Pals to soften it fast, then throw once it's under 30% HP with a status effect applied.
Suzaku's best uses: a scaling flying mount
Suzaku is ridden as a flying mount once you craft the Suzaku Saddle (unlocks at Technology level 43). Its Wings of Flame skill increases its movement speed by 5% for every other Fire Pal in your party — up to a big boost on a full Fire team — so it rewards a themed roster.
At the base it brings Kindling 5, so it can double as a furnace/cooking worker between flights, and it drops Flame Organs and Fire Radiant Gems for crafting and Awakening.
Stack Suzaku with other Fire Pals in your party to max its speed bonus, then swap to a Water Pal only when you need to fight something Fire-weak.
